An invitation is how someone joins a church’s workspace as staff. It is tied to one email address and one role, both chosen by whoever invited you.
- Open the invitation email and click its link.
- If you do not have an account yet, you will be asked to create one — your email is filled in and your name and password are not.
- If you already have an account, the link still opens the sign-up form — click Sign in under it and sign in; the invitation is applied as you do. If you were already signed in, it is applied straight away.
- You arrive in the church’s workspace with the role you were given — unless you already belong to that church with the same or a higher role, in which case you keep the role you have.
When an invitation will not work
| What you see | What it means |
|---|---|
| The link says it is invalid or has already been used | Invitations do not expire, but each link works once. It also stops working if your church cancels the invitation or sends it again — only the newest email’s link works. If you have not used it yet, ask for a new one. |
| It says the invitation was sent to a different email address | You are signed in to an account with another address. Invitations only work for the exact address they were sent to: sign out and open the link again, or ask to be re-invited at the address you want to use. |
| It says the invitation can no longer be accepted | The person who invited you can no longer give that role. Ask your church to send a new invitation. |
| You already accepted it | Just sign in normally. The invitation is spent once it has been used. |
| The sign-up form does not say which church you are joining | You opened the sign-up page directly instead of through the invitation link. Go back to the email and click Accept invitation — without it, the page either starts a new, separate church or says sign-ups are “Coming very soon”; neither joins yours. |

Owners and Admins invite staff from the People page. See Add a person and Built-in roles for what each role can do before you choose one.
