Get the overlay link first: Show captions on a screen or in your video mixer explains where it is and which colours to pick.
- Open the Overlays tab in the bottom drawer and click New overlay. Right-click the new overlay and choose Edit.
- Click the + button in the bottom right of the editor, then More, then Website.
- Paste the overlay link into the URL field in the Website panel on the right and press Enter. The item already covers the whole slide.
- Back in Show, click the overlay in the Overlays tab to put it on the output. It stays on top of your slides until you click it again.
- Sound check: add
&preview=1to the end of the URL while testing; the status box shows in the editor preview and on the output. Remove it once you see Receiving captions.
- Keep Background on Transparent on the Overlay link card so your slides show through. Transparent makes the page see-through, but the box behind the words stays. To show just the letters, set Text background to 0 under Settings → Screens, usually with a Text outline so they stay readable.
- Leave Disable navigation controls unticked; it only affects the small back and forward buttons that appear on hover.
