Having someone in your People directory does not give them the app. A record is something you hold about a person; a sign-in link is an invitation to them. Add members, Import Members and the Add New Person form all offer to send that link as you add people (ticked by default). This action catches everyone who was added without one.
It covers your whole directory at once
That makes it safe to run more than once — nobody is emailed twice — and it is the right tool when people were added with Email them their sign-in link now unticked, or when a large import left some still to go.
Sending them
- Open People in the sidebar.
- Click the + button (People actions).
- Choose Send sign-in links.
- Read the description, then click Send sign-in links. The result tells you how many people were emailed.
What happens next belongs to the recipient — see Members: set your password from an invite.
Before you run it
- Check the email addresses in your directory. Every wrong one is a bounce, and many bounces at once damage your ability to deliver email at all.
- Tell people it is coming. An unexpected "set your password" email looks exactly like a phishing attempt, and gets reported as one.
- Because this goes to everyone uninvited at once, do the telling first. To invite just one person, or a few as a trial, open each profile, click the ⋯ button (Member actions) and choose Send sign-in link.
When someone says it never arrived
- Spam and junk folders, first and almost always.
- Check the address on their record is the one they actually read.
- Someone who has already set a password is skipped by design. If they have forgotten it, they should tap Forgot password? on the app’s sign-in screen.
- Someone who was sent a link but never used it is skipped too. Open their profile, click the ⋯ button (Member actions) and choose Resend sign-in link.
- If nothing at all is being delivered across many people, see I’m not receiving emails or SMS.
