- Open Messages in the sidebar.
- Click the round + button and pick the channel: Send to Feed, Send to SMS or Send to Email. See The Messages hub if you are unsure which.
- Set the Audience: Everyone, Selected people, or a Custom Filter — use a custom filter to send to a group.
- Write the message. For email you can Design manually or Design with AI.
- Read the Summary card, then press Send message (or Schedule message if you chose to schedule it).
Who actually receives it
Selecting people is not the same as reaching them. A message only lands where the person can receive it:
- A feed message reaches members who have the app installed and are signed in.
- An SMS reaches people with a valid mobile number who have not opted out.
- An email reaches people with a valid address who have not unsubscribed.
People missing a detail, or who have opted out, are skipped. That is why the recipient count can be lower than the number of people you picked — it is working correctly.
Sending it later
A message can be scheduled instead of sent now, which is how most churches handle Sunday reminders — written on Thursday, delivered Saturday evening.
Before a large send
- Send it to yourself first. It is the only reliable way to see what it actually looks like.
- Check every link.
- Say who it is from in the message itself — people should not have to work out which church texted them.
- For SMS, keep it short and put the important part first.
